Come out to the Auckland Pride Parade!
Now established as a landmark public event on Auckland’s summer calendar, the Auckland Pride Parade 2015 will proceed down Ponsonby Road from 7.30pm on Saturday 21 February.
The Auckland Pride Parade is highpoint of the Auckland Pride Festival and the largest Rainbow Community (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Takatāpui, Fa’afafine, Intersex, Queer) event in the country, attracting a massive audience lining Ponsonby Road to experience and enjoy over 45 fabulous floats.
The theme for the 2015 Auckland Pride Parade is ‘Gods & Monsters’. From the all-powerful deities who cover our nights with stars, to Māori taniwha and Chinese dragons, magical beings and mythical beasts are at the centre of our story-telling. These creatures of the day and night will come out to play on Ponsonby Road, at the twilight hour, when every transformation is possible!
The 2015 Auckland Pride Parade will start at the slightly later time of 7.30pm. Beginning at Western Park and travelling the length of Ponsonby Road to finish at Three Lamps, the divine procession will run for 90 minutes.
Who can participate?
We accept applications from Rainbow Community individuals or groups, whether their entry is focused on Rainbow Community related messages or not.
Applications from people or organisations that are not part of the Rainbow Community are also welcomed, so long as the focus of their entry is a clear message of support or celebration relating to the Rainbow Community and/or the ‘Gods & Monsters’ theme.
