The Get it On! Big Gay Out returns to Point Chevalier’s Coyle Park on Sunday 10 February from midday till 7pm.
Now in its 14th year, this big gay day in the park is a cornerstone event on Auckland’s rainbow calendar – and the Get it On! Big Gay Out 2013 is going to be the best one yet!
The Durex main stage will feature performances from Kids of 88, Brooke Duff and Maree Sheehan, along with loads of community acts, including Buckwheat, Cindy of Samoa, Miss Ribena, Buffy & Bimbo, Miz Ima Starr, Sharvelle Poissonnier, LA Thompson, Pope Bron$, Jodi Pringle and many more.
Coyle Park will be filled with more than 80 market stalls offering everything from food and retail to information and support. The Burnett Centre will again be on site to provide free and confidential sexual health and HIV testing with results communicated the following week.
Sponsored by Urge Bar & Caluzzi Cabaret, the Get It On! Beer Garden and the Dance Tent will be as popular and pumping as always – and keep an eye out for some fun new features to the afternoon, including the Get it On! Rainbow Run.
The Get it On! Big Gay Out dog competition is back, hosted by Steven Oates and his dog Ruby – and the Coyle Park playground will be open, with face painters and performers to entertain the kids.
Transport
For those that need transport from the city, Get it On! Big Gay Out buses will be departing from outside Family Bar on K’ Road to Coyle Park every 20 minutes from 11.30am – with the last bus returning from Coyle Park to Family Bar at 8pm. Bus fares are only $2 each way.
So come early with your family and friends, bring a picnic and a tube of sunblock, and enjoy a fun afternoon filled with entertainment and community celebration!
